Simple and cheap VCO
Mercs 15.05.2020
This was the first VCO I bought for my setup. I've been using it to make different kinds of leads and basslines, and it works quite alright for that. A feature I like on it is the way you can smoothly change the waveform.
I wish the module had knobs instead of the sliders it has as the sliders are more difficult to control accurately. Additionally, the sound isn't as versatile as with some more complicated, expensive oscillators I feel. But for the price, the Hysteria is quite nice indeed.

Great choice for a first VCO
Rozzwell 02.03.2021
I decided to dip my toes into Eurorack and the Hysteria was my first choice as a VCO. It is really simple to use and calibrating it is extremely easy. I think it sounds great and it's nice to have an analogue VCO.

Pros: Nice sound, can modulate waveform and pulse width. Sync is possible and it can send a pulse, which can be used as a clock for something else. The quantiser also works very well.

Cons: In some ways it's a shame that there are not separate outs for the different waveforms. However, then it wouldn't be possibly to modulate between them. There's no sub, so that might be considered a negative if you want more bass.

Overall, I think it was a great choice and recommend it to anyone looking to get an analogue VCO.

Dreadbox delivers

I went with the Hysteria as a budget sound source for starting out my modular setup, but I feel I got a full featured oscillator module. Even though it has a single output, every parameter is controllable by CV. I have yet to utilise all the possibilities of this. I particularly like the 2 sliders for waveform modulation to make smooth adjustments for shifting timbre and tonality.

It's pretty nice
macsmoser 14.12.2020
Ok, so colours, design and functions apart - this is a nice oscillator. However, I do find it to be too thin for my personal taste. Sometimes that is a good thing though, cause it doesn't take over the whole mix.

The quantize feature is very handy and overall it's a good module.

My quality rating (as in audio quality) is set to just 3, based only on the fact that it was too thin sounding for my taste.
