If you are not the handy type, and don't really feel up to building your own rack or case I thomann think the low cost case from doepfer is the best solution. It is well built, sturdy, and has power supply and sockets installed. The wood for the case is not special, but still nice enough , i even prefer it over black or flight case style racks. If thomann you are a bit artistic the wooden case is even great for doing your own drawing or painting on it for your unique case.

The essential item for your modular
Anonymous 29.12.2016
Finally decided to take the leap into modular after years with 'fixed architecture' synths. This is a very well made housing, loads of power available for the modules. Comes with no finish on the wood, which is OK by me as I waxed it and looks great (IMHO). Would buy another when I run out of space in this one. Highly recommended. First class service by Thomann to the UK

Really loved this updated rack. The quality is very good, lots of power including 5v. The best studio rack for modular heads, my opinion. It also looks nice so no need to paint it at all. But if you want of course...Or just put some stickers supplied from many modular gear..:) Need a second one, maybe in vintage black version

This is a great place to start if your building a modular system and also a very good option if you want to build a big system in manageable units.
The power supply is more than ample for even the more power hungry modules and is very clean & stable. I've used Danish oil on mine to seal it and it looks great too.
