Great pickups at a great price
Anonymous 01.03.2017
I bought this as a replacement for the stock pickups on a Mexican Telecaster. Don't get me wrong, the ceramic mexican pickups are fine, but they can be a little harsh and undefined at times.

The twang king neck seems more defined and clear than the stock pickup, but is still reasonably warm sounding. Note separation is good.

Build quality is great, the cover is nice and shiny and all the wiring looks sturdy. The pickup also comes with an earth wire for the cover preinstalled which is a great help for the series wiring mod...however, be careful as this third wire is quite flimsy and can easily be damaged during install. Go easy with the soldering iron!

All in, a good price for a fantastic pickup. Certainly well worth upgrading from the stock pickups.

nice surprise

my Fender telecaster American performer neck pick up died on me... just like that... must be something in the air lately... so i decided to install just the neck pick up... the first thing i found was this dimarzio twang king...
i loved it so much I'm now ordering the bridge pick up as well...to replace the stock pick up (which is still alive btw)... as the sound difference is really huge...
major improvement...

The best neck pickup for a Tele
xtech 14.03.2018
I was searching for a pickup for a Telecaster that could provide me a step up in sound quality. As i has tried several dimarzios in the past, according to the characteristics of this pickup. I wanted a sensitive pickup which delivered a that "twangy" character but with a fat tone. This pickup just delivers it! The output is not high and will pair with low output bridge pickups. It is a single coil, yes, but if you push it it delivers an amazing breakup tone which is just beautiful. Think of the Hallelujah cover guitar tone of Jeff Buckley.

The tone is balanced, with an small emphasis in the high and mids, will pair greatly with an alder telecaster.

If you have a Tele and you look for this kind of tone, the Twang King neck is a no-brainer and it is worth every penny.

What a great pickup!

I purchased a G&L ASAT Classic Tribute and installed a twang king in both the neck and bridge position.

The pickup is pure telecaster magic. A beautiful thick but never muddy sound and you can completely understand why Richie Kotzen choses these pickups in his neck position.

If you are looking for that organic, creamy tone from a neck pickup this is the one for you. It balances off extremely well with the twang kin bridge pickup which is a pretty hot, spanky telecaster sound.

And finally, the price. A pair of these pickups costs less than one boutique pickup.

I own several guitars with boutique pickups installed and these more than hold their own at the price. Excellent value for money!!

Twanging on

I am really happy with the sound from this pickup. On it's own it's great and coupled with a DiMarzio DP389 Tone Zone at the bridge I am getting some really good sounds.
Not as bassy as the one it replaced-which I am happy with. A slight bit of noise being a single coil but not much and I do have it well screened under the scratch plate.

P
Sound great in a Nashville tele
Paul2518 13.10.2014
I bought this to go in a Mexican Nashville Tele, which came with Tex Mex pickups.

Since installing this (along with a True Velvet middle and Twang King bridge), I haven't once regretted the choice.

Despite the name, it's a very full sounding pickup, with great low end. The highs are not at all hard or harsh. It makes for a very versatile pickup, which sounds great from Country to Blues and even pop.

I mostly play fairly clean, which it excells at, but I've also found it to have very little noise when using high gain - especially considering it's a single coil.

It's a great choice for any tele, and I can't recommend it enough! The price makes it even better!

I bought this pickup because is in the Richie Kotzen signature telecaster. I recommend it 100%! The sound is warm, and beautiful for those chorus parts.

EG
Very good pickup
El Guito 31.08.2020
I used this pickup in a Fender Mexican telecaster and it improved the guitar's tone a lot. It sounds open and full, harnesses the true sound of a Tele and it will improve the sound of lower end instruments by a decent amount. I would advise this pickup for anyone looking to improve a guitar below the $1,000 range. If your instrument is on the more expensive side, maybe you should consider something that matches its expensiveness a bit more.

Gorgeous sounding pickup
Danchu 28.03.2021
I like the sound I get out of my tele on both clean, crunchy and overdriven guitar sounds. I just really like how chunky, yet round it sounds. I think the applications in terms of genres for this pick up are immense.
