Lubrikit Friction Remover

The biggest problem with tuning is with friction at the contact points of the strings - this also applies to the saddle and nut. A drop of Lubrkit is sufficient to minimize the friction and thus increase the stability of the instrument when tuning.

  • Consistent tuning quality
  • Prevents the strings from breaking
  • Prevents premature wear on the nut and saddle

Good Solution
visionete 15.08.2017
Long story short, the strings need to be able to pass without binding over the nut (and to a lesser extent, the saddle and tuning posts). Otherwise, the pitch will not respond smoothly whenever you tune, bend, or operate the "tremolo"/vibrato/whammy bar. This neat little kit provides a good solution.

The problem is ameliorated by the use of a nut made of a low friction material such as buffed bone and by the choice of a headstock setting the tuning pegs inline with the strings. Even so, your setup will still benefit from a tiny smear of lube in just the right spot. With a cheap plastic nut, or strings that don't pass straight over the nut, your guitar setup will benefit even more so.

The grease is thick enough that it stays in place over time and thin enough that it can be applied without fuss at room temperature. The supplied applicators are useful.

The tube comes only half full, but since you only need to apply the tiniest amount, it may well last a lifetime unless you're a full time luthier.

Although I haven't tried it yet, I daresay this grease would also be suitable for the sliding surfaces of tuning machines and trem mechanisms.

I'd recommend it for all steel-strung fretted instruments, electric or acoustic.

Great guitar lube, works like a charm!
Anonymous 20.03.2017
The simple fact of the matter is, if you have a Les Paul style guitar or a similar 3+3 headstock configuration you need some of this in your life!

I'm trying to avoid innuendo here and failing, but if you are suffering with tuning problems with your LP then this stuff is a god send. The B and G strings on my LP were particularly problematic, going out of tune etc. the reason being they bind in the nut and then stick instead of moving through smoothly whilst bending notes etc. So I bought this as opposed to a more famous brand that is also more expensive and the problem was solved. No more tuning issues at all and no mess either.

Easy to apply (the brushes are extremely handy for this too) and can be used in trems and other areas too. Does the job asked of it for a fair price.

Great for my Gibson ES-339
Anonymous 13.12.2015
I bought this to use on my Gibson ES-339 that was suffering from the dreaded Gibson nut binding ("ping" sound when tuning) on the B and E strings. This was causing some tuning instability.
Product was easy to apply with the included swabs when restringing and solved the tuning problem, both strings now move freely and the guitar now stays in tune.
I only needed to use a tiny amount, so although the tube is not large there's enough there for many applications.
Recommended.
