Great strings
Anonymous 08.02.2017
These strings are ideal for me, as someone who plays many different kinds of music with the same guitar, which is a Vintage Ibanez as 80 (semi-hollow) I suppose this also comes down to ones personal sound, but in any case i find these strings great. I have been using them for about 4 years now, when i decided to jump up from twelves, and have more or less stuck with them since. I play everything from modern and traditional jazz, to fairly heavy rock at times, and everything in between

When played they produce a very nice round tone, with a lot of clarity. They are also great at producing a really ballsy tone when really hooked into with a lot of attack, and resound with a lot of depth.

D'addarios have a higher tension than most other string brands, so they really do the job. I practice and play a fair amount and will generally change on a monthly basis if i feel i need to. Only on one occasion has a string snapped and that was the middle G which normally is the case with me.
They might be a little thick for some peoples taste but once you get used to them, its great. Tried going back to a lighter gauge, but after a week i switched back.

Works great

Have used them from B to D-standard. They work great. Last quite a good while especially under proper care.

Shimmering highs and defined lows. Also they come vacuum packed so you shouldn't run into corroded strings which is a plus. Recommended!

For drop tuning.

I bought these strings after watching a review on youtube on how to easily change your telecaster to a baritone!
Well, what can I say? The strings are very good quality as you would expect - did it give the Tele a baritone sound . .
On an A to A tuning the sound is quite good and acceptable.
On lower tunings - turns a bit muddy. Guess the extra scale length does make a difference!

Daddario for life :)

I've used the Daddario EJ22 as a base for a custom set for over a decade now. I only change them intuitively when I think its time. Never broke a string on this set, even with heavy playing. Recommended.

Perfect for accoustic guitar
Thomas7424 09.01.2014
These strings are, eventhough heavy gauge, perfect for accoustic guitar. Whereas standard string (.010-.046) often are too soft, the tension of these are very suitable for a nice brittle accoustic sound.

D'addario EJ22 - Nickel Plated Guitar strings
John644 08.09.2016
These are my favourite. Forget about those bronze and worse still Phosphor Bronze wound strings. Both metals are way too reactive to human sweat which can destroy them after even a few days of hard playing. Go for Nickel Wound strings. They do not sound so "Zingy" when first put on (which I thing is a good thing) but also do not "fad" or turn green anything like a quickly as the more common strings. You will save a lot of money and enjoy much more playing time for your money.

Solid choice for strings
stefgina 23.07.2018
I use these for some metal playing with my explorer and I can positively say that I am completely satisfied with them! I use Daddario at all of my guitars and I change them approximately in 4 months each. I find Daddario strings far better than elixir soundwise.

Great sounding strings!
rockerjunkie 21.02.2014
About a year ago, a singer called me up and said, -Hey, I need a guitarist for this new project I'm putting together! He showed me a couple of tunes, and I was like, -Hey, lets go! This year we'll be releasing our first EP. We play somekind of Stoner metal/rock, and we tune down to B. In my other band, I've been playin mostly 10-52 with the E dropped to D before, but now I needed thicker strings. So I tried out a couple of brands and gauges, and eventually ended up with D'Addario's Jazz Medium 13-56.... and now to the review, ;-) Brgiht sounding, long lasting strings, that suits my playing and fits our sound perfect. And they intonate great as well.

Great Strings
Janice 15.08.2015
I bought these for use on a full bodied archtop semi (an ES-5 Switchmaster) and am very happy with the choice. The Gauges pretty much match the recommended ones for this instrument. For may people these might be a bit heavy but I'm used to using generally heavier than the norm strings anyway, and on an instrument like this you get a much improved tone with heavier strings, especially with the wound 3rd.

I use quite few other D'Addario strings on other instruments and these are consistent in quality. The tone is initially quite bright but settles down to clear rather than overly bright once played in. They don't take much playing in, compared to some other brands. They are very durable, and if kept clean will keep their tone and intonation longer than the (discontinued) Gibson strings I was using previously. I've found this to be case with lots of D'Addario strings, which seem to be a good consistent string at a reasonable price point, and much better than some other widely used brands.

Good quality strings for downtuning
rad0o 09.12.2023
These strings proved themselves as a solid and durable choice on my les paul tuned to B standard. The tension is just right and wound G string intonates well. Will buy again.
