A little beast with a big sound
RaduG 22.12.2020
Great pedal for recreating 70s hard rock and metal sounds. As the name implies, it delivers a crisp and thick Sabbath sound. It emulates Tony Iommi's sound very well but can also be used to recreate some Led Zep tones, even Queen, if you add a compressor to it, to make it sound smoother, as the original sound is mainly brash (but not at all unpleasant).
PRO: sound & size. the pedal is smaller than the typical BOSS pedal. Furthermore, the knobs are high quality and you can dial pretty much every tone with them. Nice touch naming the volume knob "VOL4". Well played, Catalinbread.
CONS: the price, but I guess you expect it to be expensive. It really shines though and is worth the money. Another CON is that it can get noisy, if not setup correctly or if the pedal chain isn't well though out, for example if you have another distorsion/overdrive pedal wired in.
That being said, if you really want/need to sound like Tony Iommi, this is the pedal for you.

MR
Tony Iommi's early Black Sabbath sounds IN A BOX!
Marty Roxx 03.02.2023
The Sabbra Caddabra pedal is one of a kind and maybe the best "Tony in a Box" pedal out there! Great work to Catalinbread right there. It emulates Tony's sound on almost every amp I've tried it on (valves and not valves) and I couldn't be happier with the results. Only cons I can say are that you can't make so many different sounds of it, despite the four cool control knobs, aaand maybe it is a bit noisy, but with a quality noise gate you won't have any problems with noise. It does what it says! Best sound you can get is with a P90 quipped guitar, most awesome with an SG!

S
Great pedal for classic metal and 70's style rock
Sebasgitaar 03.11.2020
The name of this pedal makes it clear what it wants to sound like.
It does a good job recreating the Sabbath sound and some other classic overdrive sounds such as a Led Zeppelinesque sound. You just have to make sure you have a decent power supply, a decent cable, and that you know where to place this pedal among your overdrive/distortion pedals because it can get noisy.

t
Excellent Iommi sound but way, way too noisy unless used with a battery.
thanasisk 19.02.2024
I have tried this pedal front of amp, with good quality cables and nothing else in the signal chain. When you actually play, it does a spot-on 70s Laney sound a-la Black Sabbath - when I write spot-on, I really do mean it. Unfortunately, as other reviews both at Thomann and the general Internet are saying, it is way, way too noisy - rendering it borderline unusable without a noise gate. At first I thought I was handed a faulty unit, a quick search demonstrated that a lot of owners have the very same problem.

Is the pedal worth buying? This is really your call. When playing beefy power chords, you do get the Tony Iommi sound in spades. Pause for a moment and a way too loud noise pops up. Given the price of the pedal, I was really expecting more sound wise - how did the prototype ever passed sound quality control?

On the positive side, it is greatly packaged, built out of metal and able to withstand abuse and is really easy to dial in your favorite 70s heavy rock sounds - noise notwithstanding of course.

[EDIT] After digging around, I decided to use a battery, as opposed to my trusty power source. The noise level went down dramatically, the sound is quite good, a lot of noise went away, therefore, I am making this edit to be fair.
