Versatile

If you're looking for a versatile amp for home recording or even for a bit of gigging, you could do a lot worse for the price.

I've had this amp for a bit over a year now and I have had no desire to buy a new one (which is a big compliment to this amp), I can get a good range of tones out of the amp without the use of pedals. I play a few different genres of music and have been repeatedly surprised at what this amp is capable of if you're willing to twiddle some knobs.

The OD section of the amp has a three knob tone stack that has a lot of range, when combined with the "morph" function (which seems to me to be a mid range shift sort of thing) you can dial in Marshall-esque tones, to scooped mids modern tones, to low gain bluesy fender-y tones. The max level of gain is probably a bit lower than some metal fans might desire, but I find most amps to be borderline unusable at max gain so this is fine by me.

The clean section doesn;t run through the same EQ as the gain section, it runs through a single "tone" knob, which at first I was not thrilled about until I realised there wasn't a position on that knob that didn't sound good and having separate tone settings for each channel is desirable.

This thing is built well and looks great to my eye. The newest Bugeras seem to be free from the issues that plagued the brand in the early days, the quality on this amp is excellent.

The only issue I have is that you can only turn the reverb on and off with the foot switch and that the stock tubes are very average.

Great product

I use it for band rehearsals and gigs. I play rock and hard rock. More than enough power and volume with V30 speakers. Even though our drumer plays like an animal I never set master volume more than 12 o`clock.

It takes pedals really well and a multifx also.

If it gets stolen or broken I would buy it again :)

Packs a punch

I had a 120w 6260 Bugera before with a 4x 12 cab and it was too much for what I needed volume wish and also carrying it was tough.
After seeing the G20 I thought this would be a good option, as I like Bugera and for the spec and price, other amps didnt really look on par.
The 20w output through a 1x12" 300w cabinet is pretty damn good, it has a beautiful clean tone, ideal for jazz and blues and even playing an acoustic through. The EL34 tubes give a very tight gain and it is on power with the bigger 6260, the option of the US & British tone is great, along with the speaker simulation allows a lot of tones, even before you plug in an effect pedal.
If you do need more volume, you can switch impedance, so I can still use the 4x12 for bigger gigs. It has an fx loop so no need to modify my pedalboard and also a headphone input, this is a great option for being able to play at home with your live pedals and not have the neighbours complain!
All around this is a very well made amp, Bugera have taken an eye to detail and given it a very cool finish.
This is an all in one practice, home recording and live amp, a swiss army amp!

Rapport qualité-prix imbattable.

tallica 12.12.2018
It is amazing ,i am playing it with a fender strat and 2 x12 cabinet with calestrion speakers and has very nice sound ,you can use it at home and also for rehershals if you have a band ,you can easily play live with the volume it can brings. It takes pedals very well .
You can do everything you want with this amp .
home and studio recordings home for practice ,live performances ,With that sound and price you should buy one only with buget up to 3 times you can find something better and that it is not for sure, i think it is not worth it to spend thousands of $ when you can buy this amp for less than 300,
i am a big fan of bugera .

G
great amp great value
Geertguitars 01.02.2020
This amp sounds amazing.
I use the clean as a pedal platform. to adjust the sound a bit I use an EQ pedal to shape the sound, as the tone knob might not always get you there.
The distortion sounds really good! With the USA/UK knob you can get a really nice blend!
The best thing is the cab simulation, you can plug it in to and mixing table or computer, switch on standby and you get the sound for recording without the need for a cabinet. It absolutely sound amazing!

G20 Head
Anonymous 21.10.2016
I purchased the amp as I needed a small tube one for home practice and occasional rehearsals. A 20W pure tube is more than enough for that - it can easily power a 2x12 cab while keeping some headroom.
The G20, through a V30 speaker cab, sounds rather american/modern, although the morph knob allows you to colorise the sound to give it a more british tone if you're into marshall amps (it's not a real brit of course but it gets that certain feel when turned to 11;)
You can get pretty decent distortion out of the box and nice metal sounds when running a TS in front of it. It's not a dual rectifier type of sound though - if you want to melt the paint off the walls get a Mesa or a Peavey instead.
Cleans are nice but not using them much to be honest to give you the full picture.

Things I really like on that amp:
- Headphone out working in standby mode and builtin speaker simulation
- Speaker output with switchable resistance, you can hook this baby up into virtually any cab out there
- Good build quality
- Sounds nice, not spectacular but I'm happy with the sounds I can get out of it

Things to nitpick about / would be nice to have:
- Headphone output with a forced speaker simulation, would be nice to have a 'clean' one there
- A separate EQ for the clean channel would be awesome
- For my taste, 12AX7 preamp tubes would make this thing slightly better

Great head unit.
MIcky 368 28.07.2019
I recently bought this in conjunction with the H/B 2 x 12 inch vertical stack (excellent). I had to wait a month for the cabinet because they are selling so fast! I am 100 percent satisfied with the Bugera. The sound is super. The stomp box is excellent. It looks and smells great. It is obvious that the materials are not of the same quality of more expensive brands but I won't be lugging it around for gigs. For the money..... Hard to beat! Thomann buying, communication and customer service experience as usual, excellent!

Do you want a tube amp but you dont have tousends to spend? So buy one of these. Built quality is very good, it looks awesome. Sonds very nice on 1x12 vintage HB cab. Rewerb is enough for any stile.
Switch pedal looks much better like on pictures.!!!
Because its not a high gain amp for very heavy metal or harder styles you will need an effect pedal, but for classic rock or metal its perfect. Morph knob helps you to find the perfect blend you need for your music.
Send one for Eichpy42 to make a nice rewiev please. :-)

Great amp head
Anonymous 23.03.2017
Bought it about a week ago, have been using it everyday and i love it.
I play everything from rock, funk rock, blues, metal, heavy metal etc. and with this amp i can get most of the tones without any effects.
I am a beginner guitarist and this is my frist tube amp, i previously had a cort 15W practice amp, and this blows the cort out of the water. Much better sound, warmer, cleans are fantastic, for the price this is the best tube amp head.
I would also like to congratulate the team at thomann's, they shipped my order in the same day, i am from Slovenia and i got the product in 3 days, very fast and the packaging is very professional and safe, 5/5 on shipping and customer service as well.
