After 3 years of use. The plastic mount is broken. In general, the headphones are good, but my personal opinion is better to take the younger model.

Clean clean clean.
CanadianJay 14.11.2022
The DT 1990 pro. The build is stunning. Sturdy, heavy in appearance but not on the head. Impressions are that this will last for years. Metal, leather and the light use of
plastic. These are a work of art and a very nice blend of form and function.

The comfort is just as well thought out. Hours is use, it doesn't feel heavy, it can cause a hot spot on the top of my head after a 4hr period or so. It's doesn't disappear on your head like a Sennheiser 6 series, but it nearly does. Especially after break in.

The sound. Clean. Bright but not harsh highs. They extend well and deliver all the detail in a cohesive way. Not a "chill" sound. It forces detail, all the time. And it does this with absolute precision.

Mids. High mids are slightly recessed, the rest of the mids are present and add a nice warmth and just enough of a lush sound to balance the highs. Vocals are clear and warm. Even more so with the A pads. B pads recess the mids a little more.

Low end is very present. Deep reaching, accurate, and with great speed. Easily the best dynamic driver I've ever heard. Planar type bass. The A pads reduce the bass, add some mids and bring the highs even more forward in comparison. With either pads the sound is never muddy. Everything stays in its lane while being incredibly detailed.

Good natural soundstage. Wide but not artificial. Every frequency has room to breath and move. If the Sennheiser Hd660s is a 4/10 for soundstage, the DT 1990 pro Is a 8/10 Not HD800 wide, but it sounds right, natural.

This thing sounds analytical warm with the B pads and analytical with the A pads. Best sounding headphones I've had to date. Highly recommend.

Upgrade from dt770
Alexey Malakhov 21.06.2020
So, its all about clarity, control & balance. Tested with rme babyface pro & helix lt. Both interfaces are ok with 250 Ohm. Absolutely does not work with native instruments komplete 6 audio interface: sounds like a highpass and lowpass filters are both on =)

Cons: they are little bit small for my head, so I feel a lot of pressure from headphones, and after 15 minutes its really make work uncomfortable.

i
a bit overpriced fot what you get
iziboba 21.01.2024
headphones for 500 euros and box not even sealed. every one can stole whats inside and you will receive empty box. when i opened a parcel i thought that thomann send me used headphones with opened box or may be something inside the box is even stolen. happy that inside everything was allright. seems like headphones are brand new.. .. but to be honest not sure)))

it is a nightmare if you want to change a pads. its really hard. if you go for that risk a bet you will do it once in life and never will do it againg. insane.

hard to change cable. very hard to unplug the cable. i thought its stuck inside forever.

Headphones sound etc...
koZis 16.10.2024
The sound is perfect, there is plenty of detail throughout the spectrum. Especially in combination with the analytic earcups and the EQ correction of the headphones, it's great.
They are a bit heavier than the plastic versions of the cheaper models, but with prolonged use this is not a problem.
The only thing I'm not happy with is that both supplied cables stink. At this price range, it's a bit annoying. I hope this will go away in time.

Great but tight
matteone 15.05.2024
Plenty of other reviews, which I agree with, deeply explain how well built and precise these headphones are. One point I don't see that often in other reviews is about how tight they are. After a while I get a headache. So yeah comfort is not 10/10 like the rest of the specs.

best headphones for mixing and listening
nannygrimshaw 05.02.2022
i've used many good headphones; Audio Technica, Shure etc., but these are the natural step up from the Dt990 Pros i've used for years. Phenomenal clarity, detail and space allow me to hear every element and balance my mix better than i've ever done!

Great for professional use but not for listening to music to relax.
NeMa 27.10.2021
It would be the perfect headset if it wasn't for the big bump in the sibilance range (6KHz-10KHz) that makes these headphones noticeably sharp and even piercing on S and Ts (noticeable on vocals and cymbals.) Great for professional use but not for listening to music to relax.

T
Versatile studio headphones
Toni9 09.01.2024
I have produced about 18 months almost exclusively on these and I must say that they cover a lot of ground.
Some characteristic from my perspective:
- Good bass
- Good slam and dynamics
- Good stereo and instrument separation
- Good mids
- Little bit exciting high end but it gets easier to work around that after spending some time with them.
- it comes with extra pads and case
Btw I have produced various genres, but mainly trailer music.
