Excellent value

My bass guitar amp does not have a DI out, so this has had a permanent place in my gig bag for years. Even well equipped venues sometimes run out of DI boxes and this box has often saved the day.

I also use it as an additional XLR tap off from my bass to my in ear monitor mixer, to allow me to mix my bass level with the rest of the band without having to signal to the monitor mix engineer,

In a pinch I've used it for studio recording too.

Changing the battery is a bit tricky, but no big deal as the battery is only a backup - the box is usually driven by phantom power from the mixing desk.

Would definitely buy again if it went missing.

Value for money

I play electro-acoustic guitar in my band, and go straight into the PA. This is fine when we have our own PA, but frequently we have to use the venue's PA and mixing desk. You can face various situations:

- XLR cable snake to a mixing desk 20m away;
- No DI boxes available;
- Mixing desk is low quality with only mic inputs;
- Mixing desk has no phantom power.

I have had all these, and a DI box like this is invaluable because it can be battery or phantom powered, it has pad switches to reduce the output, and it is robust and cheap! If I was using my own DI all the time I would proably get a more expensive "industry-standard" DI, but this is fine for occasional use.

Solid and trusted

Behringer is one of those brands that people either love or hate. Personally beringer make some real gems which are sold at very reasonable prices. The DI100 DI box is one of these. Having purchased multiple DI boxes over the years I have found the Behringer to be well worth the money. I have purchased these for both myself and other clients. These clients range from churches, bands to schools. In all the time I have used them I have never had an issue. The boxes are well built and feel solid. The rubber edges make them more durable especially when they are on a stage floor. There are two pads which help adjust signals that are two high. From a price perspective they are excellent. Sound quality is good and unless you are running the highest quality PA and with the top musicians these will sound perfectly fine.
These are a solid and trusted unit which I always keep in my box.

Competes with the high end DI's

I use 2 of these DI's to send my guitar signals to the PA and if use these or the (much more expensive) ones the PA-people provide, there is no difference in sound.
The only little con is that the on/off switch doesn't need a lot to be engaged. Can be a nuisance when transported in a bag with other small stuff.
But it does work on phantom power.

Good DI-box
Anonymous 23.07.2014
As a Bass player in a Band I expect a DI-box provided if a professional PA company is hired.
But we play small clubs where this is not for sure. So I better wanted to be prepared.
Money is short, but it should be an active DI-Box for better signal handling.
I am a little bit skeptical about Behringer because I have had some issues with some of their products in the past.
After reading some test reports I decided to give it a try.
Testing it for my own first, later live, I can say that the DI-100 is doing the job.
It can be powered either by 9v battery or by 48V Phantom power. Connectors are XLR/jack input, jack link out, XLR out and it features a 20/40dB pad.
The metal housing with rubber corners is very stable. These are the pros.
The only negative I´ve found is that to place the 9V battery is very tricky.
But I can live with that and for the price it´s a good value.

The Ford Focus of DI boxes

It's really hard to beat this DI. It's not the absolute best in terms of sound quality, and it can get a little bit hissy when gained right up at the desk, but you really can't break it, and you see it used right across the industry spectrum, from the lowest technological gigs up to some surprising heights.

We must have over 20 of them and they just do what you need day in, day out, at a great price.

They've been making these for over 10 years now so they must be doing something right.

The DI you need
jerkon 04.01.2019
I took it to connect guitar to audio interface. It does the job well but I found that there are more things to do with as it has the db drop switches. I also use it to connect the amp to audio interface now. The construction is nice and I would describe it thick as a brick. No way it can break.
