The big T

The smaller siblings of Adam’s T8V speakers were launched in 2018 and immediately scooped up multiple prizes, including the 2018 MIPA Award, the TEC Award, and the IBC Best of Show 2018 – an astonishing achievement considering that Adam’s “T models” are very much situated at a budget-friendly price point. In 2020, the series was expanded to include this larger model, complete with an eight-inch woofer, which just like the rest of the series reflects the quality of significantly more expensive speakers and bears the “German Engineering” label.

Adam T8V Tweeter

The ART of the tweeter

The ART (short for Accelerated Ribbon Technology) is the special ingredient of all Adam speakers and makes long periods of operation possible without fatigue. The pleated ribbon prevents breakup, which effectively keeps distortion to a minimum. The tweeter’s effective membrane surface is thus 2.5 times larger than that of a conventional tweeter operating according to the piston principle, giving it an extended dynamic range. This is complemented by a fast and direct response in the treble range even when complex transients occur. The monitor as a whole delivers a linear frequency response from 33 Hz to 25 kHz and features an acoustically optimised housing geometry with Adam’s characteristic profile which, together with the ART tweeter, makes for a striking visual appearance.

Adam T8V Active Nearfield Monitor

For bedroom producers and home studio owners

Considering the numerous awards that the Adams T series has picked up together with the many positive reviews received from satisfied users who have purchased a pair of T-series monitors, the individual speakers’ price is a true bargain in light of the impressive price-performance ratio on offer. And it is for this precise reason that all of Adam’s T-series monitors are the perfect choice for semi-professional producers, singer-songwriters, and bands looking to fit out their studio with affordable yet high-quality monitors.

About ADAM Audio

ADAM Audio was founded in Berlin in March 1999 and has since been involved in the development, manufacture, and distribution of speakers specifically aimed at the professional audio industry. The company was founded following the development of the X-ART tweeter, itself based on the Air Motion Transformer created by Oscar Heil in the 1960s. Advanced Dynamic Audio Monitors (ADAM) has rapidly set new standards in the world of studio monitors. The company employs over 50 people in its Berlin factory, is distributed in over 75 countries, and has sales offices in both the USA (Nashville) and the UK. The list of renowned studios using ADAM monitors is long and still growing. ADAM Audio has been part of the Focusrite Group since 2019.

Perfect for home studios

Anyone looking for a first set of speakers for their home or bedroom studio on a restricted budget will be hard pushed to find a better solution for the price than these active monitors. The difference from hi-fi speakers, computer speakers, and headphones will become clear during the first mixing session, if not before: Even the smallest change, e.g. to the EQ, can be heard immediately, which means every nuance can be analysed with precision. The compact monitors can later be complemented by a subwoofer, the addition of which also makes it possible to create a surround sound system.

I can hear clearly now...
Kaiviti 17.04.2022
I have been using an older pair of ESi nEar 05 near field monitors at home for a while and although they are very good, the bottom end is a bit lacking - no surprise with a 5 inch woofer. I toyed with the idea of a sub but decided too go for a bigger set of monitors instead. I was looking around for a used pair of Yamaha HS8s but while checking reviews on youtube I saw a comparison with the Adam monitors. I was impressed. A friend has an older set of Adam monitors too and hearing them it was pretty much decision made. On top of that, I felt that if I really didn't like them or they didn't suit my tastes or room acoustics I could always send them back.

When they arrived, the outer box was a bit bashed but the contents were fine. I was already using balanced XLR connections o my ESi monitors so I unpacked the Adam monitors one at a time and then, with some music playing, I unplugged one of the ESi monitors and replaced it with the Adam one. I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest, with one of each monitor, if anything the ESis sounded better. Hmmm... Ok, so switch in the second Adam monitor and still, not the quantum leap I sort of expected. Hmmm... oh well, I'll try them a day or two and see.

Fastforward a day or so, the monitors have been playing an assortment of music for casual listening. Sitting down again I try playing a few things and straight way notice a difference. It is hard to describe sound with words but there is a fullness and naturalness - not only with the deeper bass but also the top end, some of the ambient reverbs on tracks just sound immense and much more immersive. I'm not using them loud at all yet but still there is a very different experience. Even other members of my family noticed the difference. I can only assume that from the factory, the speakers are a little stiff and need some use to reach their potential - certainly that's what it seemed like for me.

So far, I am really impressed. I haven't spent time messing with the room EQ but I kinda like how they sound right now. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the market for monitors with 8-inch drivers.

Best Monitors I've Ever Used!
MJ Klein 20.08.2021
I'm from the 80s, the days of TEF control rooms and UREI monitors. Done about 500 sessions on analog tape. Now, in my modern DAW based studio I am enjoying these Adam Audio T8V monitors and everything you've heard about them is true! I'm astonished at the lack of harshness of the tweeters (I've heard so-called "ribbon tweeters" in the old days and they were annoying). It's a beautiful, soft high end that is clean and clear. The high end is so smooth that there is a distinct lack of ear fatigue. The only thing I would change is putting the power switch and a power-on indicator on the front panel. The monitors are large and reaching around the back to turn them on is not so convenient. I am going to put them on their own power strip.

SW
No need for a sub!
Steve Weldon 09.12.2020
Bought these having weighed up the T8Vs against the Yamaha HS8s and am pleased with the choice having been using them for a few months.
Used for DJ mixing rather than production so speaking from that perspective - but the tweeters are amazing, tight, detailed and pleasant for long hours, and the low end is well taken care of too!

M
ADAM T8V - good sound
MindRevolution 24.02.2023
Let's summarize, what are the main advantages in ADAM T8V sound?
This is a very clean, undistorted high frequency range. This is the middle that is merged with it, despite the large woofer speaker. This is a correctly working phase inverter, the sound of which does not stick out and does not cause mumbling. This is an important opportunity to work with sound not only at high volume, but also at low volume - everything is perfectly audible. As a result, we see a good result for this class of monitors.
ADAM T8V are an example of low-cost monitors that on the one hand set a record for low frequencies, on the other hand, have an even balance, so that the bass does not stick out and does not interfere with the mids.
